hello can any one help.
on line is
50 meg @ £28 a month
phone £11 a month
talk unltd £7.95 a month
caller id £2.00 a month
tv £0.00 a month
= £48.95
e bill -£1.00
TOTAL £47.95

on install date letter

phone £11.00
phone/bb/xl -£17.00 cr
talk unltd £7.95 a month
caller id £2.00 a month
50 meg @ £45 a month
e bill -£1.00 cr

11+7.95+2.00+45.00 = £65.95
credits -17.00+1.00

£47.95

question is i been a customer for 3+ years and it say in black and white that £28 a month for 50 meg / on the install letter says £45 and they say that i getting the right price for my services.

i cant see the discount of £17.

(( EXTRAS NO ABOUT NO PROBLEMS.
activation fee £20 +
installation charge £30 they refund £30 due to ball`s up on accounts ))

Surely the bit on the install date letter that says "credits -17.00" is a bit of a giveaway? Or the fact that both totals come to £47.95?

highway1

i cant work out the discount.

What can't you work out?

According to the install letter you're getting a £17.00 discount, what beyond that is difficult to work out?

net on line is £28. (( new customers is £18 for 3 months then £28.00 ))
on there letter CHARGING ME £45. WHICH AS BEEN OVER CHARGED BY £17.00

my customer discount as been used to make £45-£17 -= £28.00 so im not getting no discount price.

i rang 150 again with ur reply they are saying that the £28 price is £45 and site is wrong and ~£45 i paying is right and #£17 off makes it #£28 so the price is right they saying.

The £28 price on the website includes the £17 discount.

So it's not £28 - £17.

highway you are being charged the ruight amount. the £28 price is the price AFTER the discount.

but were on the site does it say £45 Its £28 on the site because that do the £45 - £17= £28 calculation before they put the price up!

The price on the website INCLUDES the £17 discount that is on your bill

i do a check im 1000% im be over charged. on the 50 meg service.Yes it does say £45, but that is NOT what you are being charged because you have the £17 discount.

You are paying £28

philipp

You are not getting overcharged if it says you are getting a £17 discount. The £17 discount is the way Virgin makes the price £28.

While I can understand this is confusing the guys seem to have explained it pretty well. The prices VM advertise are always the final amount, but they pretty much always work out this amount by taking a larger amount and applying a discount to it. Not sure why they do this as it always ends up confusing the hell out of everyone, but they do.

You seem to be getting charged the right amount in the end though, i.e. £28. So what's the beef?

Joedm45

Completely agree.

I would imagine that you phoned them for the upgrade and they told you it would be £47.95/month which you agreed to and hence went ahead with it.

My bill says £25 for 10 meg BB which I think is extortionate but then you but their discount on and its more understandable.

*Plus a Virgin Phone line for £11 a month.

Once again the price on the website includes the £17 discount.

£45
-£17
=£28 which is the price on the website

The £17 discount you are getting is to make the BB XXL £28, it is not an extra discount. You would not get XXL for £11 a month.

You are paying the same price as the website!

web site states £28 /50 meg + £11 phone line = £39

old customer discount £17 but they now say its £45 is right price.

i was on a better deal with 2mb/phone/talk unltd/caller id £21 all in ((£17 discount which a saw it on the prices on the bill / right prices on bill.))

virgin wins. new customers get the better deal than me been the old customer (me) can do one im thinking virgin is saying. and on form thinking this also.

but im on a no win with so plz close.

web site states £28 /50 meg + £11 phone line = £39Which is £45 - £17 + £11 = £39

old customer discount £17 but they now say its £45 is right price.Which is £45 - £17 + £11 = £39

Every customer who takes XXL gets a £17 discount to make it £28

Everyone pays the same price for XXL broadband

i was on a better deal with 2mb/phone/talk unltd/caller id £21 all in ((£17 discount which a saw it on the prices on the bill / right prices on bill.))Ah I think I see what is going on now. You were paying less than you should for your old service, so you had a bigger discount. This will have been removed.

You will not get the discount for XXL and your old discount as well.

So you have had your old discount replaced by the XXL £17 discount

virgin wins. new customers get the better deal than me been the old customer (me) can do one im thinking virgin is saying. and on form thinking this also.

but im on a no win with so plz close. You are paying the same price for XXL as everyone else

Did you drop out of maths somewhat early highway?

Start - Run - Calc

45 - 17 = ?

I think it might be 28. That would be the price quoted. I agree it isn't as clear as it could be, but if it hasn't sunk in yet given the extremely clear explanations you have received here perhaps you should cancel the installation and go back to school, I think probably year 3 / junior should cover it, and relearn basic arithmetic.

That or quit being stubborn and read the things people are telling you. The price quoted is 28 quid. Your bill says 45 - 17 which my 7 year old daughter who I just asked informs me is 28 quid. Ergo the price you (it has a y and an o in it and this is not SMS it's not a hardship to press the extra two keys) pay is the price you were quoted.

I am not sure why this incredibly simple and repeatedly reiterated concept appears to confuse you so much, however if you are still having issues I would go and find 45 of something, be it pennies or whatever, and take 17 away and count how many you have left. If it's 28 we can all be happy.

I apologise if my post comes across as patronising, which it probably does, but it's something of an automatic reaction when I read posts where people struggle to grasp basic concepts then start getting belligerent when people begin losing patience having repeated those same basic points several times. Posts that come across as written moronically get replied to moronically, simples.

http://www.dictionary.com in case you need to look up the more complex words in my post like belligerent and patronising.

Funniest thread I've seen for ages.

The best bit is the accusation of people working for VM - which you would think will mean they actually know what they are on about?

Damn I have more than 2000 posts on an unofficial cable media help forum - does that mean I work for 'them', too - I'll have to get all my business cards re-printed if I do, they could have told me ;)

Why was it pick on highway day today? the guy had a valid complaint and got goosed
on his INSTALL letter it says £45 ok fair enough -17 does indeed make it £28 but for new customers it is (cue copy and paste) £18 a month* for 3 months, £28 after that so how does the guy get charged 28 quid straight off what happened to the 18 for first 3 month? he already said he has all services.

I wish I did get next bill for free sadly they screwed up my bill, unlike yours which is spot on.

I also take offense at it 'sounding like I work for them' I certainly do not and they couldn't afford me anyway ;) . Dude being able to read and do basic arithmetic do not automatically mean being a member of Virgin staff. Quite the opposite actually in my dealings with some of them.

Good trolling though would read and reply again so gold star for that. The alternative, that you really are this stupid, is something too horrible to contemplate and an advertisement for compulsory euthanasia.

Scary thing is you can do 17 * 100 = 1700 but can't understand 45 - 17 = 28. They aren't giving you that discount for fun. Yes it's confusing but dear God if you haven't got it by now I have to question how you function in day to day life.

Did you read the entire thread?

The guy had it explained over... and over... and over... and over again. First 30 or so responses saying the same thing were fairly patient I thought.

He's also not a new customer, from first post:

question is i been a customer for 3+ years

So I fail to see where he was patronised for the first few times he had the same things explained. By the end of that he earned it for either being incredibly ignorant or incredibly stupid or a combination of both, and given that even a total idiot will allow themselves to be taught eventually rather than believing themselves to be unshakably correct I'll run with ignorance tainted by stupidity with a touch of arrogance and copious amounts of belligerence.

My thoughts exactly, was skirting that line between being believable and being blatant and I'm actually running with believable here because as I get older I realise that there really are people this stupid and this ignorant who are very happy to remain stupid because they are so ignorant. :)
