Hi

Ever since my 50 meg has been installed its never gone above 27meg on speedtest or 3.2meg on giganews. The technician came out the other day and did a few bits and bobs but im still getting the same.He hooked up his laptop to my modem and using a special virgin media site he was able to get on average 45-48meg.whether he would of got the same on speedtest i dont know.I know speedtest is inconsistent from time to time but it has always said 26-27meg on mine.

any help appreciated and ive printed my downstream and upstream from my modem

Thanks

virus killer / firewall turn off quick try ? aiso for got look in to task manager might be a programme running slowing it down .

aiso any new programmes installed since installed.

i put it more virus killer or firewall or back ground programmes.

if none work best to try 151

Network card set to 100/full duplex?

This setting should be changed under the device properties via Device manager.
1) Right click on "Computer" under the start menu and select "Properties".
2) Under the "Hardware" tab, Select and open "Device manager"
3) Click the plus sign next to "Network Adapters"
4) Right click on your NIC and goto Properties
5) Click on the "Configure" button. Choose the Advanced tab, and look for an item that mentions "Duplex", or "Link speed". Chances are it is set on
"Auto" or "Auto Negotiation".
6) In the "Value" drop down, choose the full duplex mode that applies to your link speed.

Tried changing it to full duplex but still the same on this sites speed test but on speednet is dropped to 12mbits! Put it back on auto negotiation and its back to 27mbits.

tried disabling firewall/virus checker etc but still the same and not installed anything new to affect the performance.Thing is its always been this slow since i got it so adding new stuff wouldnt make a difference i would of thought.

also is 151 virgins technical support?

Many thanks

Thanks for the help..i shall try ringing them tomorrow:)
If you are ringing for help with 50Mb then you are wasting your time calling 151 as all they will do is transfer you to the 50Mb support line, and as you may have already sat in a queue that will just annoy you further so call the number below instead.

50Mb support line number.
