Hey guys,

Does anyone know at what point VM start capping bandwidth on the 50Mb service?

I see their website shows that the 50Mb package isn't subject to traffic shaping but I assume that doesn't apply to huge monthly downloads?

Reason I ask is that I'll be moving into a house with 4 other tech-savvy guys next month, I can see us downloading quite a lot!

Thanks!

The OP has already said that  and actually wants to know if/when they'll eventually cap 50Mb

From the AUP (http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/legal/oncable/acceptableuse.html)

3.2.1. Virgin Media does not place a limit on monthly network usage. However, in isolated cases (currently less than 0.1% of customers) where excessive network usage at busy times (9am to 9pm) is having a detrimental effect on other users, we may need to take appropriate action in accordance with the terms of this AUP to notify users of the impact they are having and require them to move some of their activity into the less busy period

Actually I was wanting to know the GB threshold at which they would start limiting the bandwidth!

So it's truley unlimited in both senses of the word? Amount transfered and download rate?

I wonder what these .1% of people are doing. Would they be downloading at full speed 100% of the time?

Does it work out to roughly 3 TB per week?

(50Mb / 8) x 60 x 60 x 24 x 7

= 3.78TB per week.

Who could afford to buy 3 x £100 drives every week!?
