No problem with the OP PMing you their ping results provided that a) you're happy to receive them, and b) they're happy to do so.

For ease of reference though it's probably best that they post them in the thread, this gives other people the chance to help and offer advice.

Power levels look spot on to me, expert to confirm? Are you using wireless?

Could a firewall be slowing you down - try turning these off 1 by 1 to see which is causing the slowdown.

If you are a Virgin Media customer then the best speedtest is from the links below.

click on these 2 gamefiles battlefield_2142_demo.exe and bfme2demo_english_final.exe and save them to your desktop, and then wait a couple of minutes then write down the transfer rates on the files that are running add them together then multiply them by 8 and you will get a truer download speed.

Remember to stop and delete the files.

i.e : 250Kbps X 8 = 2Mbps, 500Kbps X 8 = 4Mbps, 1250Kbps X 8 = 10Mbps, 2500Kbps X 8 = 20Mbps

Then add 10% to the final figure to account for any processes running on your computer.

Interference problems possible?

Get Nestumbler and see what channels nearby networks are using and adjust yours to suit.

Im trying to work out what this means?

Are you saying when wired downloads are slower than wireless?

---------- Post added at 03:10 ---------- Previous post was at 03:03 ----------

I know im on a little bit of a thread hijack here, but it is related are any of you VM guys aware of infrustrucure upgrades that should fix the current bottlenecking systems?... As At my GF's in the same town she is on 10meg and her connection speeds can drop as low as 1 meg in busy times.

The same goes for myself on 20meg it can drop as low as 300k... When speaking to Tech support for my side usage was at 100% hence my speed being at 300k.... Im in the SP10 area btw ;)

I have carried out pings etc and found timeouts tracert has similar stats. Snr etc are all good. But as I said this is at the more busier times of the day come midnight on both systems speeds start increasing so it seems that the contention ratio is being pushed to the limits?

any chance you could get wired and and test your surfing speeds again. Could be a wireless device bottlenecking your connection somewhere.

have you tried connecting your modem directly to your pc (remove the router)

and then testing it?

Aqib13, you are discussing this issue on 2 threads now and so far as i can see your connection is fine and any problems are likely to be local network loading issues which are likely to get resolved at some point. Prople are now tellng you to do the same things myself Moldova and BenB suggested to you. Why repeat?
