Ive noticed on this forum that when most people post their internet speeds they use Speedtest.net, is this the best one to use. I have just tried it and it shows my speed in the 9Mb range which is good, but when I try other sites within seconds of this test they show different speeds sometimes very low in the 5Mb range. Just wanted to know which site you guys thought was the most accurate.

Thanks.

I use www.speedtest.net (http://www.speedtest.net), www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk (http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk), www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk (http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk) and the always reliable speedtest at the top of this page.

Thanks, I think I prefer the Speedtest.net one personally.

The london server on speedtest.net is the same as on www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk (http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk) as they are both the Namesco server.

Both are pretty good, but Speedtest.net uses Mb and the other one kbps, I just find it easier to get the the Mb speeds shown, plus it gives you a lot more info, on average speeds in my area etc. Thanks for your help.

I tried speedtest twice immediately after the first one and I went from

https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2009/08/23.png (http://www.speedtest.net)

to

https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2009/08/24.png (http://www.speedtest.net)

Is there a reason for this swing? This was in the last few mins

Thanks

previous posts on here state that the sppedtest.net software has a bug and should not be relied on. i have never had a problem with it personally but each to their own.
