Hi,

Over the past few days (and before that). I have been having packetloss problems with my internet service. Bascially the service stops working and the packet lost starts at the first hop (after the router) which is around 80-90%.

During this time, the power levels on the modem seem fine:

Downstream Lock : Locked
Downstream Channel Id : 122
Downstream Frequency : 323000000 Hz
Downstream Modulation : QAM256
Downstream Symbol Rate : 6952 Ksym/sec
Downstream Interleave Depth : taps12Increment17
Downstream Receive Power Level : 5.0 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 39.6 dB

Upstream Lock : Locked
Upstream Channel ID : 4
Upstream Frequency : 47408000 Hz
Upstream Modulation : QAM16
Upstream Symbol Rate : 2560 Ksym/sec
Upstream transmit Power Level : 43.0 dBmV
Upstream Mini-Slot Size : 2

If i restart the cable modem, it will not lock on (ready flashes, etc) until the problem is over (which can last between anywhere between 20 mins and 8hrs). I phoned support while I was having the problem, and there are sending an engineer out tomorrow. But what could be the cause of the issue?

Could it be the upstream SNR (that we cannot see)? The cable modem on its way out? Or something totally different?
