I happily use the VM supplied router along with Xbox 360 & MS Wireless dongle without too many problems.

You'll notice I said "too many problems" - I do sometimes get an issue where the Xbox just won't connect to the router no matter what I do. Only way around it is a power off/on of the router. However, the same thing also happens with PS3 and Wii - and it's really annoying. I haven't yet found the cause of it, I wish I could because by the time I notice it's not connected, I've normally got nice and settled in my chair with a beer, ready to play.

The adapter has been known to have issues with the N router but they should have been ironed out now, make sure the router firmware is up to date.

you change the firmware at your own risk. don't think VM will entertain a bricked router. is the router firmware not locked anyway?

The WNR2000 router does not have any Virgin firmware onboard and the first thing it does when connected to the internet is to look for and download the latest Netgear firmware onto the router..

The is a new D link 615, but you will receive what is available until the WNR2000 runs out of stock and you cannot choose either, you get whatever the warehouse sends out.

fair enough. Is the D link good and is it any better with xbox live wireless dongle?

Here is the link to specs D Link 615 UK spec (http://www.dlink.co.uk/cs/Satellite?c=Product_C&childpagename=DLinkEurope-GB%2FDLProductCarousel&cid=1197319391320&p=1197318962342&packedargs=ParentPageID%3D1197318962321%26TopLevel PageProduct%3DConsumer%26locale%3D1195806691854%26 packedargs%3DProductParentID%253D1195808621247&pagename=DLinkEurope-GB%2FDLWrapper)

As for use with an Xbox the Xbox forums would be your best bet.

Hi Louisg, i am using the wireless adapter and WNR2000 router too and have no problems, connected first time straight after 50Mb install. :D

wireless N routers are still backward compatible with wireless a , b and g devices. its designed to work with the older devices too albeit at the slower speed (e.g. g wireless adapters wont benefit from the greater range or speed of the n class router but will still connect and allow you to use it)

The WNR2000 router I was given was a dog to set up with the Xbox Wireless Adapter - even now it'll only work on WEP.

Thanks everyone, i only use WEP anyway, so not a problem there.

You could always buy a 'N' Wireless Gaming adapter - the Xbox would just think it is on a wired connection.

how much are they and do you recommend a certain one?
