Hi, I own a MPV (Renault Grand Espace Yr 2002). Recently when I engage drive mode, it's move like on forth or fifth gear. There is no power. Any idea whats wrong with it?

tq.

:welcome: to the forum. You posted this thread in our articles section which would have prevented anyone responding. I have moved the thread to the correct forum for you.

My answer probably obvious but - if its an automatic gearbox, then i'd take it to a garage/independent gearbox specialist.

Could be a gearbox ecu fault, or stuck valve (if its not a cvt gearbox)

Could even be that the engine itself is running in "limp home mode" which provides very limited power to keep you moving.

But all of this is speculation (found nothing on google either - so doubt its a common fault) and you should take it to a garage.

Better to ask your question here:

I found this in HJ's Car by Car Breakdown guide below - there's a problem noted with the auto transmissions.

Overall not a good car to have looking at that website... I've always like the futuristicness of the Espace's though

There's a lot of stuff there about serious and ongoing reliability issues with the Renault Espace - I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole!

I'd vote for them too - seen as I'm a mod on there ;)

Its probably has gone into limp home mode. Use the search facility, there's loads of info on there.

Useful site! It's a good job limp home mode comes as standard on Renaults. :D
