Hi all,

I reside in London and I just had 50MB installed on Tuesday and already I had constant disconnects from the internet. I called up 150 and had a representative tell me my modem had reset itself 350+ times in a day. And he had arranged for an engineer to visit this coming Monday.

I've copied some statistics and I noticed the power levels were unusually low. Could that be the root of the problem?

Cable Modem Downstream

T1 Timeouts 5
T2 Timeouts 0 0 0 0
T3 Timeouts 498 0 0 0
T4 Timeouts 25 0 0 0

Typically what does a low power level indicate? Because the TV cable and the internet cable are both split off the same one coming into the property through the window. And sometimes the quality of the TV is pixelated with boxy artifacts appearing. Could that be an indication of a low power level as well?

Thanks in advance! The engineer is scheduled for a Monday visit and I'm just trying to find out as much as possible so I can possibly point out the problem to him quickly to save everyone some time.

These 50mb problems seem to be getting very common lol....think im the only one who has had the service so far without any faults :)

After all the advice Ive been given from other people on the forum, to me it looks like your power levels are fine. There basically the same as mine and you want them to be as close to "0" as possible on the downstream

Only difference I can see, is that your upstream power level is slightly higher sitting at 45 but Im sure that is still within the recommended range. You also have a lot of Upstream "T3 Timeouts"

Anything mentioned in your modem event log?

Only thing I could think it is, is the modem has a fault

Cable Modem Downstream

Power Level
(dBmV) 0.40 0.33 0.72 N/A : Spot on only worry if -12 or +12
RxMER
(dB) 35.42 35.60 35.97 N/A : Spot on

Cable Modem Upstream
A
Power Level
(dBmV) 45.00 N/A N/A N/A : Spot on

Your power levels are spot on for your connection so the issue is elsewhere.

Delete the post as the is no need to post them as what happens is every update comes down upon reboot making it look bad as some are disabled.

Better to just call in and get your connection checked out.

Ok done. Thanks Moldova.

The connection has gotten much better today, I'll ask the housemates how the internet fared for them yesterday. I suppose this might have to do with Virgin telling me I have to wait a few days for the connection to stable out? *shrug*

Not sure why but my power levels took a HUGE dip. Was working fine then suddenly it goes down and now we get constantly disconnected. I'm posting this between the 10 sec intervals where we actually get online.

Anything +/- 7dBmV is just fine.
