Are errupting from our back lawn, whilst this is not a huge problem in its self its how to stop\kill the lavae from living growing for next years batch and hopefully erradicating the problem from our garden.

Any idea's what they are and how to control them?

TIA

Al

It's Leatherjackets turning into Daddylonglegs that is our lawn's problem... the little beasties eat the grass roots... and the only eradicator I've seen is far too expensive to contemplate.

Looks like a Japanese Beetle from google'ing a bit more. Nematodes seems to be the best bet for eradication (I think)

***EDIT***

My wife has been using her skills to find out what is best for the pesky beetles due to the fact that there are many different types of nematodes.
Provado seems to be the best choice for killing off the grubs\lavae.

But alas our local garden center has run our due to overwhelming demand, it'll have to wait till mid week till I can start eradicating these winged beast's.

It's possible that the beetles you have are May Bugs which are very common in the UK.

Yep, they are Chafer Bugs(also called May bugs).

They're all over our garden as well(and all over me as I sit in the garden typing this).

I don't think a dose of nematodes (or whatever they are) is going to do much for them :D

Depends on the delivery mechanism.... ;)
