so i rang virgin up today to see if they will give me a couple more days to pay the bill, after i sorted that out she said to me ''we have noticed that your modem isn't picking the right signals up, so we are going to send a new modem out to you'' huh? my internet is fine.

If VM don't think the modem is fine, why argue. They can see the logs and stuff.

You are on 20Mb so the modem requires swapping as it will struggle on the platform that it will share with the 50Mb customers.

VM want to move you on too the DOCSIS 1.1 equipment thats why you need a new modem.

kk thanks so will fibre obtic be installed? or will that just be if i upgraded to 50mb?

No one gets fibre optic cables as they only go as far as the nearest big green cabinet and then you get siamese coax cable to your door.

Your using fibreoptics now well to the cab - 50Mb can be installed in any house with VM well once the UBR has been 50Mb enabled, the only new equipment you need for 50Mb is a newer modem which isn't the one they are giving you.

got the new modem today it was a ambit 256, my internet seems to be a lot faster than usual now

Test 3: 1024K took 464 ms = 2206.9 KB/sec, approx 18185 Kbps, 17.76 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 935 ms = 2190.4 KB/sec, approx 18049 Kbps, 17.63 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 17913 Kbps, 17.5 Mbps
