I've seen a job in private healthcare which I really want. I'm perfect for it, have all the relevant qualifications and could do it with ease I'm sure. Its also a nice pay rise, closer to home and the 'benefits' package is rather appealing.

I'm fine with the application form itself, as i often recruit so view many applications. But I'm struggling with getting started on the 'additional information' where I need to show not only do i meet the person spec, but that i'm the right person for the job. I really want it to stand out, so want to use words such as dynamic, flexible etc etc.

Its a project managers' job FYI.

Can anyone assist in helping me get started please? :) (only serious replies please)

I think if you go over the top with too many expressive words then it doesn't work. it's like that was the norm thing to put down, but they see right through it. if you know what I mean?

Other than that I'm not much help :)

Yes i do, thats precisely what I don't want to do, neither do i want to sound arrogant/cocky.

Check out their website and look for anything that you could use as a potential project or if they mention anything they hope to do for the future and outline how you achieve this.

Go through the advert, highlight the descriptive words, then form your wording around those.

The advert will tell you exactly what they're looking for, if you can include all of that in your wording you shouldn't go too far wrong.

If you start trying to squeeze too much in you risk creating your own impression of what they're asking for, whilst completely missing what they really think they want.

also when writing it up stay away from things like "I feel", "I think" and "I can bring". these are negaitive statement, instead use "I have", "I do" etc.

When giving examples of your own achievements try to remember S.T.A.R

S: Situation - What was going on/happening?
T: Task - What was the task/activity you took on or were part of?
A: Actions - What did you do (not what the team did, don't use 'we', use 'I', what was your direct contribution)?
R: Result - What was the outcome? How did what you did affect that?

Might be worth finding out what their employee appraisal criteria is. If they have a specific lists of 'behaviours' and examples of what 'being a good decision maker' or whatever is that they use when measuring the effectiveness of existing staff, then you could align your examples to that.
