I sent my old DAISY back on Saturday - My nice shiny new DAISY PTX-1 should be here soon.... I hope lol

I've been reading the manual again wow it seems smart.

I didn't realise it can copy a cd onto mp3's on an SD card - whch can be useful for me as I won't need to rip with my pc then :)

Getting the (new - down here we are changing to a single local council) council to change thier minds about what formats they provide my information in.

I got my council and rent benefit letters last week. I phoned to ask for them in Braille or large print.

Of course it got my back up to be told they can't and wouldn't do it!

Anyway one official complaint and speaking to several people there I got the call this morning and now ANYONE who calls can request their info in either of these formats Download Failed (1)

Nicely done Dilli.
I would have though they'd offer this normally anyway.

It may sound daft, but I'm happy that Cash Generator has revamped the website/s and each store (http://www.cashgenerator.co.uk/instant-cash-form.aspx?pageid=68&StoreId=1875) is going to have an online prescence (hope it's not run by the same dimwits that run Cex online operations) - presently you can have valuations done online though :tu:

That sounds very good. I expected it to be a lot more of a synthetic sound if you know what I mean.

I have never been into a Cash Generator store as there aren't any where I go shopping although we do have an old fashioned Pawn Brokers and the jewelry is very tempting.

I have just had a Google and it seems there is a Cash Generator in Salford which isn't too far away so I may go and have a look at what they have in stock.

I go in there sometimes to get old tech (like a cassette player for example).

It seems a very dodgy place to sell things tho.

yes it's pretty much the same thing, Luton has one of each but no-one goes in cash converters as it's too expensive

Cex is infinately more 'dodgy' and even tiresome if you want to actually buy anything. Have found odd barginous dvd's in both though, especially that our CG has them on 3 for 2 still! :D

One of those type of places in our town was run by undercover cops, I would often see computer games that where returned to us (we where a software distributer to the shops) in there window.

The funny thing was they had faulty items on them from HMV, the idiots didn't even bother taken them off, lets say they soon lost there job.

Just replaced my old pc speakers with some Logitech Z-4 (http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/284530/LOGITECH-Z-4-2.1-SPEAKERS-SYSTEM/tab/reviews#reviews) only £40, so a budget system. I'm quite impressed with it though, it packs a decent punch for a relatively small amount of money. Threw some Guns N' Roses, Oasis and Nirvana at it, and it sounds quite impressive. My MP3's have been given a new lease of life. :)

Found out today that the helicopter that went down in the North Sea should have been carrying my old best mate from school. It was his shift and on its way to the oil rig he worked on . All crew onboard died in the crash.

But the day before he swapped shifts as he had other things to do.

I should think so - not managed to speak to him yet as he lives in California now and we tend to catch up every few months or so on facebook but I speak to his sister a lot, she was going nuts yesterday until she heard from him. She said he was talking to the other guys on his shift in the morning before the chopper took off.

Obviously this is good for us but devastating for the families of the crew.

Thats good to hear.

Heres an option 'potato cheese cakes'

Get some mash spuds and add some flour (enough to bind but not to make to doughy) add some grated cheese.

Roll into balls and flaten (about 3-4" across) and fry both sides until golden brown. (I fry in oil after bacon has been cooked)

They should be soft and not to much like a cake.

Had roast chicken, potatoes and veg with lashings of gravy.only a little pain involved and hopefully will be diminished even further as I get through the rest of the antibiotics.

Download Failed (1)

Only challenge is that if you don't wear it all the time, it needs 40-50 winds per day - purchasing the auto winder takes the faff out of it, and if I go away for the week-end without it, or wear one of my other watches for a day or two, it unwinds.

Also, I am inveterately lazy. :D

Sorry, I should have clarified - for my 50th birthday, I bought myself a nice watch
http://www.thediamondjeweller.co.uk/catalogue/1467/images/6645.01.jpg?1239634314

Only challenge is that if you don't wear it all the time, it needs 40-50 winds per day - purchasing the auto winder takes the faff out of it, and if I go away for the week-end without it, or wear one of my other watches for a day or two, it unwinds.

Also, I am inveterately lazy. :D
Should have got one with an auto winder so every time you move your wrist up and down.........................http://smileyshut.com/smileys/new/Laughing/lol-049.gif (http://smileyshut.com)

I went for my 'travel vaccination consultation' at my local PCT, today - I needed some jabs due to a possible trip to Thailand/Indonesia next month.

The nurse was absolutely excellent, she went through a comprehensive list of advice concerning things like food, water, sunscreen, insect repellent, sexual health, etc - and what to do if any problems arose.

Upshot is I am now up to date with vaccinations against Polio, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Hepatitis A & Typhoid.

- and it was all done under the NHS & didn't cost a penny :tu:

ECG today at 9am at the local clinic - I was in the waiting room for a sum total of 30 seconds. I went to get a glass of water when they called me in! Surprised, but fair enough. All over in about 10 minutes, and the nurse chatted about how she'd only had 3 patients in 3 weeks (clinic runs every Thursday) and I was the 4th, and how she'd be having words with the reception manager about it as I'd been waiting a couple weeks. I smiled, cos I'm polite like that. In: 9am. Out: 9.15am. Can't ask for better than that.

Since I had the day off, I went searching for jobs, put a couple calls into the agency I did work for, and should be getting some money back soon since they fudged my hours. Got paid today too! So I started playing Super Mario World, and was determined to do it in one foul swoop. 2.9m on the scoreboard later, and I attack Bowser and complete the damn thing! That'll teach it for wiping my bloody save games! :D

Oh, and one last thing: crumpets. Best food invention to come out of Britain? I can't stop eating the damn things, they taste SO GOOD!!!!! :)

You may not need any prophylaxis. It's not required for Thailand, and may not be necessary for Indonesia, particularly when sticking to cities.

Nevertheless: linky (http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2002/oct/24/health.lifeandhealth)

Yesterday my my changed her mind about getting a netbook, so I helped her by a Compaq laptop (as it had a optical drive - lightscribe) with HDMI out.

Today went looking for a case Currys had a nice one but it was £50, PC World had same the one priced up for £34 but should have been £50, so we got it at the cheaper price.

The last time I laughed like that was on a recent Simpsons episode, Homer was eating a meal (Bart has a Girlfriend round) Homer saw a fly on his plate, but both hands had food in them, so he slammed his head into the plate.

I laughed so much I ws nearly sick, And I had no Alcohol in my system.

respect is due whatever you decide, Jo - especially as 'retirement' in your case can also mean being a bit more choosy about which commissions you take on ;)

For me, sad as it is, the happy thought is that I seem to at last have an internet connection - thanks to the friendly tech who came & swapped out my old modem for a new 256. The old 255 seems to have been bricked since last Thursday, punctuated only by a confusing resurrection during Sunday afternoon, which expired later in the evening with a return to the flashing ready light..

You have hit the nail on the proverbial head. No more working from the top of ladders, sitting on scaffolding or bent over like a pretzel. No more tripping over pieces of work. From June I should just be up to my eyes in canvas. Bliss.

- having no connection means not being able to moan about it, then once it is restored there seems no point in moaning about what 'might have been' - life is too short - your inscrutable analysis is apt, it seems - thanks :)

I can drive a car without crashing it around a nearly-deserted car park, but the temptation to left-foot brake was far too much. Go on, laugh at me! bit of a strange one this but here goes, bought a copy of Windows Vista Magazine and got a full version of Ashampoo Powerup 2009. Didn't particularly want to go (as it wasn't the 80's music that I enjoyed at the time), but my wife did, and as I love her very much (after 23 years), it was as a treat for her.

However, the highlight of the night for me was when Peter Kay came on and joined Rick Astley in a duet of "Never gonna give you up" - hilarious.

Had a fantastic weekend! :)

Loughborough on Saturday with friends - drinks at 4pm, chinese restaurant at 6/6.30pm, then Eurovision round another friends at 8 with more drinks! Got back at about 1 after waiting half an hour for a train at Loughborough station, walked the half-hour from station to my house as quickly as possible through the drunk students queueing at quarter to 1 outside pubs and clubs whilst resisting lashing out at them shouting excitedly "Oh my God, it's Harry Potter!", and came home to roost where I collapsed in a heap on my nice comfy bed!

Today was excellent, despite the God-awful weather at Donington Park. Met up with some friends I'd only ever spoken with online at the Old Hairpin and watched the support races along with a rather damp opening BTCC event. The entire day was riddled with deluges, the first of which got me so wet I stood there like a lemon watching cars go past because there was a point where I couldn't get any wetter! Now I'm home, I'm downing a couple cups of coffee, and having something to eat before racing online tonight. Fun fun! :D
