View Full Version : WAN Miniport PPPoE ????
Hi all
Just visited by Bro and spent a couple of hours trying to fix his PC
He in on Virgin BB and his PC runs Vista......problem is he has losted internet connection. When we tried to set things up it keep coming up with trying to connect though WAN miniport PPPoE.
I tried setting the connection to LAN auto detect but this kept failing.
Any what a WAN Miniport PPPoE is and is that correct ? If not any ideas on how to fix this would be gratefully received before I turn to 'drink' to try and help !
Many thanks for your time.
Kind regards
Mike

This may help. Its Win XP not vista, but the principle is the same.

You need to make a change in internet explorer.
Got to tool/internet options.
Choose the connections tab.

If there's anything in box in connections box then delete them.
You can enable Network Connections in Vista with a registry hack. The new Vista control panel entry for networking is called "Network and Sharing Center".

Think we did this and then when to LAN setting and ticked auto detect but still did not get a connection ?
Any more ideas.
Thanks again
Mike
Try going in to Network and Sharing Center, then go in to Manage Wireless Networks, then click on your network, then right click on it and remove it. Then back in Network and Sharing Center, click Connect to a Network and select your network. You'll have to re-enter the wireless password and reselect the Home Network option when it asks you what type of network it is.
That sorted out someone with a similar problem on this forum a while back. Might work for you too maybe?
