One problem, a lot of Digital Recorders (DVB-T/Freeview) are ONLY capable of recording from freeview as they extract and record the digital stream, but do not have any MPEG encoder capability to record from SCART.

This could mean a split, old analog recorders have an encoder, so while their tuner section will not be useful after analog switchoff, they will be capable of recording from a box.

The digital-only recorders cannot record anything that is not on a freeview channel.

The ideal is one that covers both, so it can record freeview with its own tuner and/or an AV input.
