Hi everyone i'm very new to pc know how and forums.
I'm hoping that some of you can help me, at the moment i've got a usb adsl modem(speed tough 330) which suits me ok but my son is getting a laptop and wants to go wireless on his laptop.I have been given a Netgear DG834G wireless router from an old aol custumer, would i be able to set this up on my pc and still run my virginmedia broadband through it.

Yeh you should be able to. You are using an adsl modem and have been given an adsl modem router. You should just have to enter the settings into the new router and continue to use your broadband.

sorry to ask but how would i go about entering the settings into the new router?

Just log into the routers settings, then enter in the stuff from your welcome letter I presume.

Andy, you need to open Windows Explorer and click on Network. You should see an entry called Gateway or similar. If you right click on it and select "view webpage" it should fire up Internet Explorer and open the log on page of the router. The default user name and password you will find in the manual.
