Right, I have my cable modem in my front room, on it's own connection point, and my V+ box in the back room on it's own connection point. I phoned Virgin, ended up through to Bangladesh or somewhere, and all he wanted to do, was book me an engineer.

What I wanted to know was, I want to put the TV in the front room, and internet in the rear room, basically swapping over the connections in the rooms. Will my V+ box work on the connection that my cable modem is at the moment, and vice versa?

In theory yes because it is the same cable feed.

In practice though as the cable length is different the electrical resistivity on the cable will be different creating slightly different signal strengths. In that case you might find that whilst the boxes works in their swapped locations, they suffer occasional drop outs.

Most installers now *should* be ensuring all outputs have the same levels. If this is the case you will not have any problems.
