Just been using a broadband speed test,

http://www.broadbandchoices.co.uk/speed-test.asp

you can rate your ISP, anyway out of interest here is my result:

Your connection speed is 0.03Mb, you have indicated that you are meant to get up to 2.00Mb from Virgin Media
What should you do next?

Top tips on speeding up your current connection
Try out Be there 24Mb or Virgin Media 20Mb deals

With ONSPEED your connection could be up to 290 kbits/sec with no need to change your ISP

I'm not going to put a great deal of faith in that test, it's reporting my speed as about 3mb instead of the closer to 18mb most other sites/direct downloads etc show ;)

From that site

Estimated download speed: 5,491 kbits/sec
(686 KBytes/sec)
Tested at: 13-Sep-2008 18:58

This from another site

I also found my tests unreliable. The file it downloads is too small to give you a true picture of your speed.

That site's speed test is utter utter trash. Actually I'm sure I've seen that before...

Ah yeah Virgin's advertising: Fastest "heavy weight" ISP in 2007, Broadbandchoices.co.uk

Speedtest is crap... 3.46Mb rated here. I was pulling 3.3MB/s yesterday ;) (That's 26Mb)

As already stated, a truly crappy speed test site. On my 20mb connection it gives me just 6.4mb, whereas on speednet I'm always close to 20mb, more importantly on the virgingame files site I've never dropped below 19mb. How a site can continue to operate giving out false information, then recommending a product to speed up your connection is unethical in my book.

This test sucks, I pay for 2Mb connection which is fine. This was my result....

Your connection speed: 19.25Mb
Estimated download speed: 19,711 kbits/sec
(2,464 KBytes/sec) - Tested at: 13-Sep-2008 22:24

I'm sure the file download is far to small to measure the connection. Or maybe us VM costumers get proper value for money LOL! Never had a problem in the SG1 area of Stevenage to date. Keep up the good work VM!!

Errrmmm... You do realise that speedtest is intended for their own customers on their own network. BTW it works very well from a Be connection.

So thats why its available on the frontpage to anyone visiting their site.. and why after testing you get the message Well, you won't be setting any landline speed records today. Enter your details to see how fast you could go with Be.

BTW it works very well from a Be connection.

I don't doubt it lol
