Im only getting 11mb with my Netgear when hard wired into pc.
Ive read up on it and it seems limted to my spec of modem, im looking to see if theres a fix or if its worth my while getting the Netgear you get from Virgin?
I dont want to get the same router as it looks the same , tried calling Virgin but after 3 of my indians friends not understanding my Glasgow accent ive given up been sent to wrong call center.
Any help would be great thanks.

What modem do you have it could be that rather than the router?

I upgraded to 20Mb today and got the same speed as you. I knew the ntl:home 100 modems didn't fully support 20Mb so I phoned them up and asked them to upgrade. Surprisingly it wasn't as easy as phoning them telling them I had that model and them sending a new one, they wanted to do a few tests first but once they were out the way the ordered a new modem for me.

I had a Netgear WGT624 that used to only give me 10mbps until the SPI was turned off. Try that.

I have a Netgear WGR614v7

4 comps hard wired and one wireless and I get full 20meg.
My router has the basic setup, the only thing I changed on the router was to allow port forwarding for world of warcraft for hubby's downloads.
Maybe try a hard reset?

Sorry, should have been clearer.

My WGT624 (wireless router) would only allow 10mbps if the Stateful Packet Inspection was on. Switch SPI off and the speed went straight up to 20mbps but then VPNs wouldn't work.

Had to get a new router in the end - a Linksys

Virgin send out v6 and v9
I bought mine from a computer shop in Uddingston for £35.

All of them give 20meg.
