Hi

When we had our old Surfboard modem replaced with the current NTL250 one the engineer didn't have any PSU's for it, so used the old one from the surfboard (he was meant to post one through the door later but that's another story), and the connection from the modem to the connector for the mains adaptorhas always been a bit sensative, but it's reached the point where minor vibration can cause the modem to lose power.

Would it be worth giving Virgin a ring and asking for a replacement PSU? (I'm guessing the proper psu has a slightly larger connection?)

Just phone up and tell that the PSU has failed or that you keep getting a burning smell from it.
