We upgraded to 20mb broadband last week for free as part of our tv and phone package and recieved a new modem yesterday. But we cant register the mac address with virginmedia because everytime we ring them to activate it they say that they cant at the moment because of a service problem and to call back tomorrow.

Is there any other way of registering it without phoning??

What service problem? I've added 2 new modems today so far and haven't had any issues.
Call back in to tech support.

The MAC would need to be provisioned firstly by calling the 0800 number that came with your new modem.

If he's been sent the modem as his old one couldn't do 20meg it's just a matter of calling tech support and add the modem to the equipment screen then balance it.
If it's a quick start self install then yes he'll need to call the 0800 number.

I added one today....took a while to get through...about 30 secs for it to be activated... they should make an option by text!

We recieved the modem because our old ambit 120 wouldnt be able to cope with the 20mb connection + the ethernet connection never worked on it either.

We rang the 151 number again tonight as supplied on an instruction letter sent to us with the modem and apparently their registration system is down again, they said it was working earlier today but stopped tonight again....

Does the 151 number cost anything to ring???If so we must have spent a fortune and would be looking a refund since its their problem were having to phone them.

For help with your TV or Phone and for Broadband Technical Support:

Call Product Support/Faults on 151 from your Virgin Media Phone. It's absolutely free.

Or call 0845 454 1111 from any other phone line.
