I'm on 20mb now done a few speed tests at different places.... but there all saying im on 10mb, my modem says 20mb aswell..

also the guy asked me a random quest like do i use a wireless router, do they have some kinda system in place to mess up there speed anyway due to wireless not giving 100% speed so they limit it some how? i have no idea..

edit, woohoo 1 site said i was on 12mb :-D wooppie really isnt worth the extra money :S

Want a true measure of your speed then try this link.

Have you tried going to this link to check your speeds http://gamefiles.virginmedia.com/

click on blueyondergames>demos>then click on at least 2 large files and run them wait a couple of minutes then write down the transfer rates on the files that are running> times them by 8 and you will get a truer download speed.

well atm im downloading from GamersHell, and on 10mb i get a contant speed of like 1.1/1.2, but now im on 20mb im getting like 769kb/s to 912kb/s its going up and down constantly, i've never seen it do this before.... but its no where near 20mb, these speeds reach about 10mb if that, on 10mb, i was happy to each 9mb, now reaching 9m on 20mb is silly.. surely? after i've downloaded from gamershell, ill try the link you provided, but shouldnt make much difference.

but shouldnt make much difference.

It makes a lot of difference. It rules out problems outside of VM's network (and therefore VM's control).

select tickbox for modify all network adaptors
select optimal settings down the bottom of the program
click apply changes click OK your need to reboot to see changes mind you here

reboot can wait if needed no hurry if pc busy

Tests like these from within VM's network are certainly more accurate than from external sites, however in my experience it is still worthwhile trying the technique of downloading two large files simultaneously from gamefiles.virginmedia.com, especially if you're on the 20mb service.

Any speed test page for me gives readings that can vary wildly. The only time I get anything approaching an accurate measurement is when I'm under STM. The gamefiles test gives me a steady 2.4Mb/s pretty much every time (STM periods excepted).
