View Full Version : Sky Freesat dish: usable with other freesat boxes?

Hi all,

Sky's freesat deal at £150 is looking quite attractive as the local aerial fitters are looking for around £200 to fit a freeview aerial and booster to our fixed site caravan. We'd then have to buy a freeview box on top. HD isn't a necessity.

Question is, if the sky box blew would I be able to use another make of freesat box with the existing sky dish or are they 'coded-in' to the sky box?

The dish points at the same satellites and will work with any free-to-air satellite channels, and any free-to-air satellite box.

Great, thanks for that.

What about something like that, easy to install and cheap. It'll pick up all the FTA channels (freesat) the only thing it won't do is HD or interactive

Thanks for the thought,

They are a good idea and I have looked at them, but we wanted a permanent fixture and I didn't want the hassle of getting hold of all the necessary bit and bobs to make it permanent on the van. Just idleness....
