hiya peeps..just joined the forum so hello.ive been a cable customer for 7 years now and the last 2 years my broadband connection has been losing its connection badly between the hours of 11 am to about 4pm.for example say:im on msn messenger or browsing, suddenly i get white paged or my msn messenger disconnects.i either have to wait a few minutes or restart the modem but then after a few minutes it happens again.its pretty bad all day on a sunday.the engineers have replaced my modem about 5 times and i have had a few engineers look outside but this issue is not getting ressolved.it made me laugh when an engineer came and saw me the other day and said the modem looks ok it must be my computer.well it happened on 2 computers and my mates laptop and i recently bought a top of the range computer in the last 2 weeks and its doing it on this one lol.i have no router just ethernet to modem.my upstream and down stream levels are fine.and today i phoned up and was told that it was passed to their network team and they aint prepared to do anything.to be honest i think it just needs re-wiring from outside to my groundfloor flat but they cant be bothered to do it.its a pretty depressing situation and im well sick of it.any suggestions anyone?

what modem is it? model etc
as for the problems maybe keep record of this page
http://192.168.100.1/ root root as user/PW [you probable know this]

i'd write a nice letter to them explaining your problems see if that helps cant hurt
as for the disconnections without seeing any error reports or figures of the modem hard to comment further

example is mine here [virgin 255 modem]
Downstream Receive Power Level : -4.5 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 33.2 dB

Upstream transmit Power Level : 52.0 dBmV

hope some of this helps to compare too ?

All the above appears to be OK you could try changing the Downstream Frequency as r00t said above by going to either http://192.168.100.1/gscan.asp or http://192.168.100.1/gscan.htm (http://192.168.100.1/gscan.asp)

and changing to 339000000

You could try this below if you are on XP.

TCP Optimiser is actually on the Virginmedia website click on this link and read about it.

Then the link to the Speedguide site

www.speedguide.net.

Or the link direct to the Optimiser.

hasnt been upgraded here yet in cheltenham.says tbc.i was on 4mbs before and it did it,then i went to 2mbs and it was doing it then and ive only recently gone back to 4mbs and its still doing it.only thing i can think of is it needs re-wiring from the cabinet to my flat but their network team reckon that wont improve the issue.
