Client currently has Virgin phone upstairs in workroom and a separate coax run from the external box to the tv downstairs.
He wants to add broadband upstairs near the existing phone.
Does this require a new dedicated coax run to handle the BB or would it be split in some way off the existing phone cable?

It would either split from the TV feed, if the modem was to be sited downstairs, or in the grey/brown omnibox on the outside of the house for installation upstairs.

Existing TV runs around the ground floor level of the house. Cable modem will need to be upstairs. So I guess that's a new run from the brown box.

Lol, he's gonna have to shift a shipload of junk in the workroom to let the installer get in there..

If he already has Virginmedia Digital TV then he has a Broadband connection as the DTV is piggybacked onto the Broadband signal, you can have modem installed and you can ask for it to be installed upstairs and the engineer will route the cable for you.
