Greetings All.

Have not been around for a while - but thought I would drop in and see what the latest news was - reason - slow internet in reading.

Over the last 24 hours or so it is almost too slow to be usable What is strange is that Speedtest.com gives reasonable values (12-15 Mbits) - however real time surfing is slow. Even Cable Forum page loads can take 30 seconds or more.

Done the normal stuff (modem reboot / PC Reboot etc).

Just wondered if this is just me or are others in the area finding similar results. I can actually surf at better BB speeds using my Vodafone mobile modem (is working 3g+ in my area just now).

cheers

Mark

Below is the recommended Downstream power levels for both NTL Platforms and you are much higher than both of them at 8dBmV on QAM256

Bromley (exCable & Wireless) Downstream power levels +6dB to +8 (QAM 64) +2.5 to +5.5 (QAM256)

Langley (NTL area) Downstream power levels -2.5dB to +2.5 (QAM 64) -1.5
to +2.5 (QAM256)

You need to call up Tech Support and tell them whats happening.

Oh I see you are in Reading also, possibly on a different UBR though.

I'm not entirely sure what platform im on, but my downstream power goes upto 12db (QAM256) without any problems, its currently sitting at 9.2 db..

If your happy with that then OK, I am just letting you know what appears to be wrong and could be causing you similar problems so you can ring Tech Support with a bit of Knowledge.

As with the original OP you may have a problem with speeds from time to time because your power levels are too high.
