This has been happening all last week as is now a pain in the %^& when i turn on the comp and start going on to sites everything works everything loads up and so on. but after say 20 min its like the bb modem goes on strike the send and receive lights stop flashing and i can connect to some sites but i cant post or anything. if i reboot my modem it sometimes works if i reboot my computer it works for a bit then stops again

i have it wired throu my wireless so i tried it with it going straight into the modem and same problem anybody got a idea on how i can sort as it is driving me :mad::mad:

Then it's a Scientific Atlanta, not a motorola. I think the model may be an EPC2100. If it is a revision 1, it will not handle 20Mb, if it is a revision 2, it will handle 20Mb.

Can you pick it out of this list? http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/existingcustomers/faster/hardware_selection.html

So it should handle 20Mb fine.

Can you post your signal levels. Try accessing 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.100.1 depending. If any passwords or usernames are asked for, they are "root". Happy hunting for the signal levels, we want Upstream power level downstream power level... Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). The whole page, basically.

Those screeen shots show that your modem is working within normal parameters

ok so why would it stop working after so long?

They are quite normal power levels nothing appears out of the ordinary just an average screenshot of a Scientific Atlanta Webstar EPC2100 on the Knowsley Network.

The fault must lay elsewhere possibly an intermittent fault in the Green Cabinet at the end of the road.

I see that you are on 20Mb as well.

yeah seems like that one but i can chat to mates on msn i just cant do anything else

what?

if rebooting the comp without the modem works to get it back on, and u can still get access to msn, i would doubt the modem causing the problem.

if the modem locked up, rebooting the comp on its own wouldnt have any affect.

i wouldn't say the modem locked up its like it just stops if you refresh it will load the page back up but if u go to read anything then u cant as said the lights dont flash or flash now and again its just a pain would u think i should ring up vm to get them to sort or will it sort its self out
