View Full Version : Why is a Virgin cable modem activation page appearing on DSL?

I have been with Virgin DSL broadband for 18 months, I am shortly to change provider but have had the following problem on both laptops in my flat since requesting a MAC code from Virgin.

During normal browsing, quite randomly on both laptops but annoyingly frequent on one of them, the following activation webpage appears when I click on a random link or one of my favourites:

http://www.virginmedia.com/help/activation/start/

It seems to be activation for a cable modem which I do not have.

I don't know if there is any connection to changing my supplier but I would like it sorted. Can anyone suggest how to rid my laptops of this problem?

Thank you.

Are you using wireless?
If so, check you are connecting to YOUR router. Chances are you could be hitting a neighbours Wi-Fi who hasn't set up their modem correctly yet.

I can confirm that I am connecting to my own router on both laptops. Virgin Cable isn't available in my area, which is why I am puzzled.
