When i try to use any of the BBC streaming services, i get disconnected from the internet.

I've tried using:

- Internet Explorer 7
- Firefox 2.0.0.12
- Netscape 9.0.0.6

The same problem happens

im on the 20Mb service, Windows Vista Business x86 with Netgear router. This only seems to happen on Virgin Media, my friend has all the same as me, but is on O2 Broadband and doesn't have this issue.

Could be a loss on the modem. Have you called tech support?

Or tried with a direct connection to rule out the router?

Which if you phone tech or use the support newsgroups you'll be asked to do.

My netgear router (which I love) crashes violently when I try to use RSS feeds.

I've been asked by a firend to look at his laptop/NetGear WGR614v7 wireless router as when he starts to watch streamed video's on Virgin Media or YouTube his connection drops, any idea's ?

That's the same router I have. I can stream YouTube no problem and can stream a movie but as I said before, start an RSS feed and whole thing crashes.

What part of your system crashes, modem, router or is it just the computer? i.e. is it actually your VM connection, or something in the computer's setup?

The internet will cut off, there is a red X in the Network thing in the Startbar, sometimes the browsers will crash, (Netscape, Internet Explorer) as soon as i close the browsers that are linking to the BBC stream the internet will connect again.

If the modem is keeping going, but the computer is dropping it's network connection, then it's something on your computer's settings. Check you have the latest drivers for your network card. Might your antivirus be a bit overzealous?

It's something to do with the modem I believe, I used to have this problem.
