Biggest con has to be the installation cost, especially if you don't already have gas connected. In relative terms gas prices are likely to rise, just like oil - it's a scarce resource and we're running out and dependent on places like Russia now.

Pro is ease of future use. No scheduling deliverys to refill your tank.

You may be entitled to a grant towards the cost of installing an energy efficient gas boiler:

Note that new boilers now have to be 'A' or 'B' rated:

Can you get Natural Gas? The main reason houses have oil fired heated is usually due to Natural Gas not being available at the time it was installed.

The other "gas" alternative is LPG/Propane. This is used frequently by people/businesses who live away from a "Mains" gas supply. In fact, the place where I stay on my annual fishing holiday changed over from oil to Propane and (accodring to the owners) have never looked back. In addition, this method is widely used abroad and in the states.

Might be worth considering?

Cheers and Si thee

You're welcome. Funnily enough (one of the delivery trucks of) my local bottled gas supplier has just driven past the house on his way home. Coincidentally the company is called Home Heat.;)
