Crappy ****ty 20Mb BB Speeds in Cardiff. What Gives?

OK, this is my speed for a 20Mb connection.

Test 1: 1024K took 52552 ms = 19.5 KB/sec, approx 161 Kbps, 0.16 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 44701 ms = 22.9 KB/sec, approx 189 Kbps, 0.18 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 44469 ms = 23 KB/sec, approx 190 Kbps, 0.19 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 78920 ms = 26 KB/sec, approx 214 Kbps, 0.21 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 189 Kbps, 0.19 Mbps

****ing crap to say the least. So VM what the **** is going on?:mad:Why is everything so **** since VM took over cable. Never had problems like this with ntl. Even something simple like trying to load this forum takes forever and a day, slower than 56k. Like I've gone back in time ten years.

3, DOWNGRADE YOUR SERVICE TO 4mb
4, KEEP BITCHING ON THE FORUMS WHEN YOU COULD BE ON HOLD TO TS\CS

Thanks for your very mature post. I've already asked about downgrading to a more stable speed. Because I have the VIP package VM will NOT allow me to pay less, I still have to pay the full £90 pcm for a lesser service which I feel is well out of order. Why the hell should I live with it. If you put £10 worth of petrol in your car but actually only got £5 worth in your tank, would you put up with it. I think NOT.:erm::mad:

i agree i know it sounds daft but if your gaming the 4mb has the most consistent low latency and imo is the best gamer service at present

Yeah and then when the OP downgrades, then the OP will have a lesser limit before the STM kicks in and drops it down to at most a 2Mb connection... What a clever idea... NOT!!

if the conx is used mainly for gaming 2mb/4mb even with stm is fine so yes i think it is a good idea if your downloading 24/7 then no its not its all about making the most of a bad job .......or you can just bitch away all day and go on a buisness conx its your choice!!

Best speed i have had from newsgroups over the last 2 days on my "20mb" connection is 150k download. Really poor. Bt15 Northern Ireland

Thats if when it gets throttled to 2Mb, I actually get 2Mb and not 56k.:td: and as I mentioned above, VM will not reduce my bills if I shift down to 4Mb service. :mad:

And guess which option I chose? yep you guessed it, option 2, and am in the process of waiting for a chap to come round & look at it all before they can give me an install date, not really holding my breath though, as all the UBR's in my area are way oversubscribed and are running on accient bits that hasnt been upgraded yet... so if that dont work, then I will do the other option, bitch away, mainly to managers at VM and will also seek legal advice against them too :)

Your absolutly right, ever since virgin took over the performance & quality has dropped. Never had this when NTL were the ones running the show.

Some days it's fine, but most of the time I feel like I'm not getting my money's worth, like I'm being bent over and can't do **** about it.
