Hey, I'm new here and could use some help.

I'm with VM, got an NTL 250 modem. Everything was fine until I removed my wireless router (Belkin) and ran the internet wired for about a week with a cable directly from the modem. Got a new router, stuck it in, it was getting an IP address but could not resolve pages. Now only my desktop PC can get an IP address. I've tried to get one with 3 different other computers with no joy. It won't let my router connect either.

I thought MAC filtering had been stopped and that any computer could connect through the wire? Has something changed?

Thanks in advance for any good advice...

have you tried

Switching off all devices
Turn on modem
Turn on Router
Turn on PC

Have you powered down the modem between switch?

You can ask the router to clone your PCs MAC if you wish.

What router have you bought? Have you plugged it into the right socket (should be marked WAN/Internet/something similar!)
