Hi guys,

recently I've been getting really awful lag on my xbox360 connection, but it's intermitent and having done some research and looked at my transmission levels, I think there may be a problem.

Can I request a new free modem from Virgin Media?

Type : Ambit ETH/USB Combo Cable Modem
Cable modem : Ambit Cable Modem
MAC address : edit
IP address : edit
Downstream Receive Power Level : -14.63 dBmv
Downstream SNR : 24.33 dB
Upstream Transmit Power Level : 51.50 dBmv

By the looks of this, your Downstream recieve power level is right near the brink, and so is the upstream transmit power.

You need to call up Tech Support and an engineer's visit will probably be required and maybe even an attenuator will be fitted onto your cable to balance the levels out a bit.

As ECW said, Your D/S power is too low, should be as close to 0 (zero) as possible, accepted limits are around +/- 12. Your SNR is too low, again should be ideally at or above 33db, but your U/S is fine. You do need to call faults and arrange a tech visit.

Right just been holding for stupid amounts of time, finally got thru to an automated message asking me to call a premium line on 0906 212 1111.

I decided to email them instead.

Stupid good for nothings...

Bad move!! They rarely respond to emails within an acceptable time frame and in any case all you will get as a reply is a standard reply asking you to ring them.
If you really can't/don't want to phone then the only other way is by newsgroup at:-
