ok right had a tech come round to fix my conection (signal levels) he put it down to bad attentuater or something like that snipped it off and whalla it starts to work good but isn't the downstream power level supposed to be nearest to 0 (i asked him that he said it doesn't matter) and secondly people always say speedtest.net or eny other speedtest site is unreliable and guess what lol soon as my connection came back on he went striaght to speedtest.net lol

and mysteriously i have been upgraded to 20mb which i don't like too slow i want my 4mb back lol *off to phone virginmedia*

have you tried downloading any files from the blueyonder games site, to check your speed?

A common mistake by all accounts,especially with the 20Mb connections;)

But then we cant blame people for putting blind faith in the dodgy speedtests(especially the afore mentioned speedtest.net) when thats one of the first things you get told to do if you call up about dodgy speeds.:erm:

Well,i cant speak for others but thats exactly what they tried to get me doing the few times i`ve ended up speaking to TS about the speeds.
The speedtests were kinda ok with 1 & 4 Mb and even on the 10MB they were`nt tooo bad but their just no good whatsoever on the 20Mb most of the time.....imho.
A couple of times since our 20Mb finally made it`s appearance i`ve seen 18-19Mb on the speedtest here but in general even thats always about 30% slower than the typical dl tests i do from VM.

Test 1: 1024K took 2833 ms = 361.5 KB/sec, approx 2979 Kbps, 2.91 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 2066 ms = 495.6 KB/sec, approx 4084 Kbps, 3.99 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 1751 ms = 584.8 KB/sec, approx 4819 Kbps, 4.71 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 2661 ms = 769.6 KB/sec, approx 6342 Kbps, 6.19 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 4556 Kbps, 4.45 Mbps


Getting a s**t 8/9Mb downloading from VM but the above with the speedtest
from here.
Do the speedtests by all means people but at least compare with some decent downoloading before you go shouting about things.....just in case;)

EDIT:And of course.....do make sure it`s not your own end people ;)

What about the power levels for downstream currently on 11db oooh and btw this makes me laugh i download 2 files on gamefiles.virginmedia.com and they add up to about 13mb right but when i jump on a torrent i can pull down at 2.6mb lol torrents ftw

Confused - do you mean Mb or MB?

in utorrent it says 2.6 megabytes

That ain't too shabby - that is over 20Mb/s.
