You really don't want to be giving out your IP address on an open forum.

ron101, I have edited your post to remove the IP.

Welcome to the forum BTW.

If your IP is changing, it could be a sign of a faulty modem or router. Do you connect directly to the modem, or via a router?

I CONNECT through a set top box not a router or a modem
THANKS for removing that.

Don't think your DHCP is correct, unless you have a router assigning your LAN IPs. Router or Modem should themselves obtain IP from ISP, I assume that STB works in a similar way
Aren't IPs starting 10.xxx.xxx.xxx and 192.xxx.xxx.xxx private IP addresses?

yes I believe that is the correct convention certainly for 192.XXX, I'm not 100% on the 10. range.

Could the OP open up a dos prompt window (start, run, then type CMD in the box followed by return) and then type IPCONFIG /ALL and post the results here please ? this might help identify how your network is configured.

Yes that prob is right ips are for me,BUT how do i get DHCP to what i want, i have only SET TOP BOX to connect to the inet direct.I find that the IP,s no.s are what i fall back on if it cant get on the net, STB green light is always on so you would think its ok.So that means it could be the STB is faulty....?

The page you are seeing is the provisioning page- used when you connect a new device to a STB or change your level of service. The ethernet connection on the new mobo will have a different mac address, hence why it is coming up.

Connect up and check your ip now- if it is still 81, then clear temporary internet files, delete cookies and then release and renew your ip (or "repair" the network connection if you are using win XP) and restart the browser. You should then be back online

If we connect a new(unknown pc) to the stb broadband we usually have to give the "name" for the new pc on the provisioning page as well as the obigatory pin number & password.....followed by a reboot of everything.

EDIT:It will be a 10.xxx.xxx.xxx ip until we do so
