Im interested in upgrading from 2mbps (not 1, correction to title) to the next price up. Does anyone have details about whether a new modem is required, what speed I am likely to get and the cost. Thought i was paying 14.99 but I have 2 mbps so Im little confused.
And has anyone used any p2p on a connection that fast? Just like to know if more powerful computer is needed to download at max. Ive got a p3 800ghz.

You will not need a new modem for 4Mb. 800GHz is overkill, my 1GHz server can max out 20Mb so you should have no problem.

Thanks guys. Its an 800mhz. According to Virgin website there are only 2 broadband packages, 1mbps (14.99) and 2-8 mbps (17.99). This cant be right can it?

That would depend on weather they are in a cabled area or not, by this and other posts by the OP, i would say they aren't.

i suppose it depends on how far away from the exchange they are, but you are most probably right.

Decided against upgrading after seeing prices but thanks. I think i must be on cable because the prices look familiar; Ive got NTL TV as well so thats pretty conclusive. Supose ADSL isnt available to me but 17.99 for up to 8mbps looks a much better deal. I always thought ADSL was old technology so its odd the package is better.
