I should have been disconnected a few days ago but my line is still active.

They did say it would be remotely disconnected when I called to cancel the service.

Does that mean they switch me off back at HQ, the green box at the end of the street or the brown box outside my home?

hi,
Are you bringing your number to bt as, i think, they keep it active for upto a week in case anything goes wrong (not sure of the times)

it should take about 30 days [mostly before that] and if your taking the number to bt, that depends also. They just take the number off the switch but billing stops when the number shows inactive on the account.

If you're taking your number to another company you might wanna call them and ensure they are porting the number over as should be - it could be that it's just still active on the switch (the exchange) as is with a call I've just taken - the line was disconnected and the customer wasn't charged but if you dial the number it still rings.

It's just a case of sending a tech to disconnect at the street cabinet.
