its the weirdest thing. after traffik management two nights ago i was getting downloads of over 600 kbs and i only have a 4mb line. This is better than getting 1mb traffic management like i was a few weeks ago, but its not better than getting 20 minutes of down time every so ofter like i do now. VM are weird and suspicious people and if met them out in public i would make my excuses and leave quickly.

I`ve seen a wee bit more than the alloted 20Mb on our own connection too strangely enough.....we waited 3 months from the time of our upgrade before we actually got the full 20Mb.It still bounces around like a yoyo but it often jumps as high as 3MB when downloading.

Modem config`s as it should be so god knows how it`s happening.

Forward a bit,forward a bit more.......oops, back a bit:)

Your 4Mb is probably becoming 10Mb soon.

yes, theres defintely something fishy going on. im now downloading at a rate of 725kb/s and i get 4mb broadband for £17 from vm. its just cut out a couple of times and reduced to 0. its 3:31 AM mind you. am i the victim of nefarious experimentation?

Im excited now :D i think that some people may be wanting to downgrade there packages from 20MB to the 4/10MB package if the upgrade goes ahead

I agree with that, but the STM thresholds might help convince people to stay. 750MB is a low enough threshold for 4MB, but at 10MB it'll last how long? 12 minutes?

The bit that makes me nervous is that now they have STM technology in place it's not a bit step to go from where we are now to a system where bandwidth is always high but you pay for usage limits, traffic types, etc.

We all know how under-invested the network is and how little VM can afford to invest in it - that would be a logical direction for them to go in. The only problem for them is they would have to make it work - which may also be the reason they haven't gone that far in this direction yet.

Enough of the conspiracy theories for now!

You are the victim of a free upgrade to 10Mb very soon ;)

So yes, maximum emphasis on the word victim.

I think they are doing something as well. See attached a graph from my router from literally the last hour. It clearly shows spikes above my maximum 4Mbps, something Ive never seen before on these graphs.

As stated above and on other forums such as DigitalSpy, VM ARE TRIALLING UPGRADES TO 10MB FOR 4MB CUSTOMERS.
