is it ok to use a power surge ?

i'm thinking of buying a power surge where the etherenet(sp) lead can plug into then come out in my router to protect the computer in case of ...a power surge.
anyone use 1 ?

Yes, I use one for my servers in the garage - I was worried about spikes from my electric drill. Everything has been OK for over a year now, so I suppose it is working.

I have my computer kit on one, and my TV/V+/DVD recorder on another - better safe than sorry, and they are fairly cheap.

Wouldn't use my PC without one.
