This is driving me up the wall.

Ive been on the o2 website now for nearly an hour and had the settings sent to me and tried putting them in manually with no joy. I currently have http://freesim.o2.co.uk/messages.php < that sim card. "Text Anytime"

Would anyone happen to have correct settings for a D500 for the mms, as I have to visit the o2 site everytime I am sent one to view the darn thing.

*also, this text anytime thing... bit confusing, would this be classed as payandgo, or paymonthly as I have to top up on a certain day.

Are you pressing save when the setting's come through ? and then making that profile activated in your message setting ?

Whenever I have a new phone I just go here http://www.o2.co.uk/services/ota4/input2 then select phone make, model and tariff. then just enter your mobile number and hit send.

When settings come through normally just click save. If not asked to make default profile go into your message setting's and set the O2 profile to the one is use.

Also would still be classed as Payandgo.

Sorted it... thanks anyway :) I double checked everything you said and quickly rang them. Turns out the sims mms was locked as its new. Gonna take up 24hrs to activate mms on the sim. :)

One thing I am annoyed about, I used to be on Vodafone PAYT and could use my ntl mail via pop3. o2 have just told me on there PAYT, I wouldnt be able to use it ??? Could anyone confirm this ?

What model of handset are you using?

You should be able to use POP 3 via your tariff but is dependent on your tariff. If you have GPRS access then you can use POP3. You may want to look at certain bolt ons available for browsing as browsing on PAYG can be quite expensive.

More info about bolt ons can be found here (http://www.o2.co.uk/mobilestariffs/tariffs/paygo/paygoboltons0153)

My handset is the Sammy D500. I used pop3 with Vodafone PAYT but the chap at o2 said "nahh it cant be done with us, you would need to use a webbased client".. which is alright, but a pain in the bum.

Leave it with me and I will get back to you on Monday about this. I am sure it can be done. Sorry I did see that you had already posted details of the handset you are using in your original post. Still trying to wake up and shake off my hangover from last night. :dozey:

Either way I will have a definate answer for you on Monday. I would need to check on the systems we use in the office.

Just rang my mate who is in the office at Glasgow and I can confirm that POP3 is not available for PAYG customers only Post Pay.

Sorry.

Why don't you get a SIM only contract from O2

Here (http://www.02.co.uk/mobilestariffs/tariffs/paymonthly/simplicity)

Then you can POP3 to your hearts content. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks for that Cerberus, muchly appreciated. Cheers for the link. Seriously tempting to get a contract. :)
