Let’s see if the problems with capacity are isolated or as a whole. What is the typical maximum bandwidth you’re getting from your 20MB Cable Modem? Downstream running download speed tests (any time of day)?
Some test tools:

Before 3:30 pm I get my full 20Mb but after that I struggle for around 3+ Mb...my pings to anywhere in the UK jump into the hundreds and its slowly becoming impossible to use the connection for what it was intended so will be disconnecting soon.

Edit: lol vmuser you thrash my download speed almost tenfold, but my upload beats yours :)

I wouldn't even know I'd been upgraded if it wasn't for the upload speed increase.

The only way I achieve a full 20 meg download speed is by using downthemall :/

I`m actually getting around 10Mb with downloads though, bouncing between 7 & 11 to be more precise.

I`m just happy to see our speedtests being back to well below what the download results always are.......There was a 2 week period after the new modem first arrived where the various speedtests results were always higher than the download results.i.e:I was getting 2Mb on a speedtest but 1Mb downloading etc.:erm:

We had 3 months at 4-12Mb with the NTL120 then 2 weeks of 1-4MB(mostly) with the new Virgin 255 then one day earlier this week it just took off...

Want to add, that since having V+ installed, my speeds have dropped from a pretty constant 11meg to under 6meg. The engineer who installed the TV said everything was OK but I was probably in an over subscribed area.

Any reasons for TV to interfere with the connection speed?

I am monitoring it over the coming weeks before writting a strong complaint to Virgin Media :(

I do hate grammar police but i could`nt resist.sorry;)

My patience paid off too and after waiting 3 months from the time of our 20Mb upgrade back in June...after calls, techs, engineers, bill reductions and the new modem our 20Mb finally showed up 2 weeks after the new modem arrived.

It`s still going up & down like a yoyo at times but it is hitting 20Mb much of the time.

Supposed to be 20 meg?? pah!!!
From 8 am i can rarely get over 2 meg, between 2 and 10pm normally under 1 meg, huge pings and latency all over+

Tried to speak to Bangalore but no joy, just went through the routine, and said there were no problems in my area, so could do nothing and would not refund call.

Had enough, this has been going on for six months and will be off as soon as I can persuade the kids to give up the Disney Channel.

Speeds are still wonky in my area - slightly faster than 14 days ago on average but still nowhere near maxing out my connection even from gamefiles. B16 area of Birmingham (Edgbaston, near Hagley Road).

Latest speed test done at 3am (just now), only got 14 and a half meg. Pretty disappointing coming from a long history of ADSL where you were pretty much guaranteed whatever sync rate you got 24/7 unless you were on a ****e ISP :( never mind, we continue to hassle... and a bump for the thread because hell, why not.

Speeds are pretty good here.. Unless I'm STM'd (only happened 3 times so far), I get pretty much the full 20Mb all the time..

Here's one from a few minutes ago.

Maidenhead wasn't as good but I suspect the server was overloaded since it's usually better than the London one.
