At about 10 past 1 this afternoon i got put through to India. The guy gave me a test to do.He told me to type www.tinyurl.com/ (http://www.tinyurl.com/) i can't remember the rest but it had a j,r and 2 in it.The download was wdviewer some microsoft package..Then run, save and to tell him the result. The transfer rate was 11.7mb and he said that was 20mb i didn't know so i had to take his word for it.So 3 quick questions

1.Is a transfer rate of 11.7mb 20mb?
2.Can someone remind me of the url to repeat the test?
3.Once i've saved the test, checked the speed and have finished with it how do i uninstall it from my computer?

Thanks.

If Im doing my math right, with 20mbit connection, you should be downloading at best around 2.2mbyte per second.

Use this sites speed test for a rough idea, http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/speed.php or download something from a bigger, faster site (like a demo from microsoft.com). best thing to do is get multiple files at once so you fully use your connection, but be careful as if you download too much you could end up capped.

1. Arguably it confirms you have a 20Mb connection - but only 'up to' 20Mb for the speed, as 11.7Mb is less than 60% of the theoretical maximum.

2. No idea, sorry, any largish file from a capable server, such as microsoft's download centre should do, though.

3. The file will be in your default download location - unfortunately, only you know where that is, but I'd guess 'my documents' or the desktop - then use the 'windows explorer' to find the file & delete it.

Is a link tech services have had me download from in the past - is 'xlviewer.exe' from microsofts download centre, so will be similar to the link you were given. Incidently, you can check your browsers internet hostory and see what links from tinyurl.com you have visited recently.

As for uninstalling the program, you needn't have to if you just click 'Saves AS' or "download' to rather than run the application when prompted by your download manager. But if you have installed it, can probably find it in add/remove programs.
