It's worth rebooting the modem and if you have a router, restart the router as well. Oh and of course, speed tests via the net should be taken with a pinch of salt. Download a reasonably large file for a true indication.

Then of course, phone VM and kick up an unholy stink :)

rebooted modem twice, tried connection using PC and laptop both wired without using router. Reset router.

Using the ntl newsgroup I get roughly 120k.

Dont even start me about the new modem............:)

My old 120 there suffered a terrible miscarriage of justice it seems as this new 255 is`nt doing any better.First it was upgrade teething problems then it was the NTL120 after all.........now it`s those teething problems again.:erm:

Oh well,i gave it all of 36 hours before i was on the phone having my current billing agreement continued for another 3 months........or until they fix our connection.whichever comes first:)

The tech i had was`nt much use but the lovely Scottish lass who arranged the rest was a wee diamond:)

Of course i dont pay much heed to speedtests but the downloads are not any better just now.....even ftp from Virgin at 98KB`s.

I knew i should have asked for a blue one.

Well I have rebooted again and its now giving me roughly 1.4meg per second. Still aint any better than my Ambit 100.

So looks like its VMs network that cant handle the speeds and not the modem.

Try a download, those speed tests aren't worth the mouse click.
