Hello we are thinking of changing our hall stairs and landing carpet, we want an easy clean hard wearing carpet as we have the dog and her muddy paws in the winter months!

Can any one suggest what type of carpet might be good to use!

Thanks

Anything Scotch-guarded is definitely a recommendation from me :)

I've found loop pile is better than cut pile if there is hair & fluff to hoover up :)

Twist pile, as short as you can find that you like.
Look for something rated 'Heavy Domestic'.
80% wool / 20% nylon
Some sort of stain gaurding.

Most important thing is the underlay, get the very best that you can afford.

.... and go for something sort of 'porrige' coloured.
...... do not skimp on the quality of the underlay ESPECIALLY on the stairs

When I moved into my house the previous owner had only just had fitted 80/20 wool/ nylon short loop (berber twist) carpert fitted hall, stairs/ landing and two downstairs rooms. Heave domestic grade. All in that colour.

May sound awful boring BUT

a. It "goes" with any other decoration/ furniture be they bright or plain
b. It does not show the muck - very important as the kids were small then
c. By heck it lasted well. 20 years on the stairs a couple more on the hall and still have it in one of the downstairs living rooms
