Hello everyone,

I'm moving into a new flat which previously had telewest, with all the cables etc in place.

I have opened up the self install kit, and was just wondering if instead of using the green cables supplied if i could simply plug the existing telewest cables into the new VM digital box and modem?

The VM cables seem to be exactly the same as the Telewest ones except they have green ends rather than blue.

The splitter currently in place looks like it would do the same job as the one that came in the VM package.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Thanks in advance,
Andy

Just do whatever you want it's up to you. If you want to use the old cables and they work, good for you.

On my self-install I used a mixture of old and new cables

OK thanks for that, so the cables are more than likely the same.

What about the splitter? The Virgin one is labelled 'Wall Socket', 'Cable Modem' and 'Set Top Box' whereas the Telewest one just has 'In' and then 2 identically labelled outputs.

Is it important that I use the new VM splitter or are they all the same underneath?

All the same underneath, the only reason they are labelled is to make it easier for a non-tech person to connect up the cables.
