Useless connection - Completely unreliable

Help!
Virgin tech (????) support completely useless, and 2 engineer visits have been no shows!!!!

V+ box online light shows not ready (flashing) and ready on cable modem E08C007 (ntl 250) flashes constantly.
Its been offline since Saturday, and connections drops out for days then all of a sudden comes back online and is useable.

What the bloody hell is going on - The one engineer who turned up (unannounced may I add!!) has said that the kit is all working fine, and the tests are showing fine.

Any help very very very gratefully recieved - please before I destroy the modem!!!

That is seriously too high.... It's shouting to be heard at the other end.

Im also based in chesterfield, Signed up about 2 months ago for 10mb bb, Phone , Tv package and i have to say i aint had a single problem with it (Touch wood)
I get a steady 10mb down, varies between speedtest sites but this one ( http://www.btopenworld.com/speedtest ) normally gives me 1.18 - 1.22mb/s 24-7
