I have an NTL250 SACM and the 10Mb service. I understand that when the 20Mb service is rolled-out, the SACM config files for each customer have to be updated remotely by VM. Will the new config file take effect immediately, or will it require a reboot of the modem? I only ask, 'cos I'm reading here that some people are starting to get 20Mb, and I don't usually switch off my modem, even when the PC is off, because it's in an inaccessible place.

At some point, Virgin will reboot all modems, but you may get it quicker if you reboot your own.

You can actually reboot some of the Motorola modems from the pages located at 192.168.1.1 :) Hope this helps.

wouldnt that be the address of a router?

192.168.100.1 might work better
