hello. my first post so be gentle lol. ok i formatted my hdd and re installed xp. i have 10mb on a NTL 250 cable modem.
before the re install i have greating great download speeds.. now i just did a speed test and it says this!!

Speed Test Results
Date 20/04/07 21:19:20
Speed Down 728.25 Kbps ( 0.7 Mbps )
Speed Up 477.56 Kbps ( 0.5 Mbps )
Port 8095
Server speedtest1.adslguide.org.uk

bit confused to say the least... now when i reformated/ i just plugged me cable modem in and the net just worked.. im bit of a novice at computers so did i need to install any thing else or set anything up..
just thought it was dam slow..

:welcome: download something using a download manager that allows multiple connections from somewhere like cnet and test the speed could just be your route to the speed test

i assume that everything is connected as it was before the format, do you have any firewalls running ? that is about the only thing it could be i think affecting speeds, do as zingle says ^^ a good download manager is "flashget"

Same here, now takes me 6 threads to get 1.2MB/s down. Occasionally one thread will weild 600kBps though. Which is nice...
