Been playing a bit with my setting and noticed that I still had a manual proxy set to bypass the last outage on the network. I decided to take it back out.

Running through the forced proxy my speed tested as:

Whenever I allow it to default to the proxy for my area I get:

Is this odd. maybe last time I had 10meg it wasn't the modem that couldn't cope at all but the proxy. This time i have been on 10 meg using a forced proxy from the word go.

I'm running through the default proxy and have no problems

Somehow I think my phone would be ringing if the Peterborough proxy was down lol

I'm also in Peterborough but don't appear to be behind a proxy as the connection tab on this site and also another external site tells me. But I am getting poor speeds 2.5Mb on a 10Mb line. So obviously something is amiss.

tis. odd. forcing the proxy works for me but i dont know why?

I am forcing it to go through 80.3.128.7 and getting far better speeds.

Edit:

Tried to ID my default proxy (am forcing use of pete4) but cant connect to it at all now.

I believe the Peterborough proxies have been removed from active service - you may still be able to connecto to them manually atm, but I suspect that won't last. VM are slowly dumping them all.
