Hi.

i posted a few days ago ago my 1meg (which should of been 2meg but i didnt have a modem), now ive upgraded to 4meg.

very impressed with virgins service, the cable modem arrived within two days, and easy to wire up, and set up.

now.

when im testing my internet speed (both on speedtest.com + the one at the top of the site) i am getting 2meg response times.

I called virgin about this, got through to some indian tech chap... who said my speeds are correct as im on 2meg, an put me through to a nice Scottish chap who told me that all the notes say im ment to be on 2meg.

i then asked to be put through to retentions, who first informed me that 2meg speeds were due to increace to 4meg in may the 5th, so i might of misunderstood him... however, when i asked him to confirm the exact package we got, he said we had XL tv + M bb when we were ment to have L tv + L bb. he instantly saw the mistake and as soon as i said how helpful he has been an said goodbye, i clicked on the speedtest and got these results

1st 512K took 1313 ms = 389.9 KB/sec, approx 3213 Kbps, 3.14 Mbps
2nd 512K took 1109 ms = 461.7 KB/sec, approx 3804 Kbps, 3.71 Mbps
3rd 512K took 1062 ms = 482.1 KB/sec, approx 3973 Kbps, 3.88 Mbps
4th 512K took 1063 ms = 481.7 KB/sec, approx 3969 Kbps, 3.88 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 3740 Kbps, 3.65 Mbps

Quite a bit of bat an balling around, but very helpful guys indeed.

oh... and with the 2meg raising to 4meg... is the 4meg raising too?
also the 10meg is getting pumped up to 20... so should i be logical in thinking 4meg = 8meg in future?

Kudos to Virgin :)

nice to hear of a positive resolution for once..! Its all too easy to find faults and complain but people are never quick to praise!

as for the speed updates...not sure, an upgrade from 2MB to 4 would be nice though ;)
